06/05/06: Coastal Hazards Survey: Week of June 12
Please note that an employee from the office of Coastal Zone Management, Claire Enterline, will be conducting data collection for the Coastal Hazards Commission during the week of June 12 on the Neck.
This will involve collecting GPS data points and digital photos of waterfront structures such as seawalls, piers, and buildings. The data will be used to create maps for coastal storm preparation and to
assess potential impact of storms.
She will be working on her survey on both Great Neck and Little Neck. The survey includes a few things: 1) a digital photo of every first-row structure (including homes, seawalls, staircases, revetments, etc). 2) A GPS measurement of each first row structure, which in many cases includes a distance measurement using a range-finder that looks like binoculars, 3) A short description of the structure (EX. "house/gray/white trim).
She will be in her own personal car, not a state car, for the survey. She will have a display that says she is on official business, and will be carrying a state ID. Her car is a 1998 red Saab.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call the Planning office at 356-6607.
