Friends September Program
Painter and illustrator Joe McKendry whose work has
appeared in publications worldwide will discuss his first children's book
Beneath the Streets of Boston: Building America's First Subway
on Wednesday, September 8 at 7:30 PM in the Collins Room of the Ipswich Public
Library, 25 North Main Street. McKendry currently teaches painting at the Rhode
Island School of Design and runs a summer course in archaeological illustration
at the Etruscan site of Poggio Civitate near Siena.
Registration is not required for this presentation, which is sponsored by The
Friends of the Library for library patrons FREE of charge, but seating is

The Ipswich Public Library recently
subscribed to the Marshall Cavendish Food and Nutrition database – a
comprehensive and engaging resource designed to help young people make healthful
and safe personal choices about all aspects of food and nutrition. This is
available for remote access at www.town.ipswich.ma.us/library.
From our homepage choose Youth Services, and

Doll ExhibitThis exhibit
offers a sampling of Madame Alexander collectible dolls which were made in the
United States. Scarlett of LittIe Women, which is shown above, is one of
the beautiful dolls on display. All dolls in the collection is owned by the Manning family of
Ipswich. Patrons may view the exhibit freely during regular library hours.

Books
Online which is now available to
patrons. Our collection of digital books covers a variety of subjects on fields
of computing, programming, Web design and more. This collection includes over
3,000 titles published within the last three years by noted publishers in the
industry such as O'Reilly, Addison Wesley, Microsoft Press, Cisco Press,
Peachpit Press, Que, and Sam's Publishing. To start using these resources visit

Book Club
The Ipswich Public Library Book Club will
meet on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30 PM in the Conference Room of
the Ipswich Public Library. During this meeting we will choose books for the
coming year. Please take note of a book you like for suggestion.

Summer Wii Hours at Library
On Tuesday afternoons during the summer Ipswich Public Library will sponsor a
Nintendo Wii Open House for ages 8 to 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the
air-conditioned Collins Room at 25 North Main Street. There will also be
available hours on some Thursday afternoons (please call for availability). Come
and try out our games, including Tetris Party Deluxe, MarioKart, Wii Play, and
Wii Sports Resort.
The Nintendo Wii equipment was purchased with federal grant funds provided by
the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the
