Storytimes |
|
Storytime programs are held three times a week from October through
May. The Tuesday half-hour storytime for children 2 ½ to 3 years of age
includes stories, songs & fun finger-play and concludes with circle games.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Wednesday and Thursday half-hour programs for children 3 to 5 years old
cover theme stories with games, songs & a related craft project.
All storytime programs are free of charge but registration is required. Call
978.356.6648 to register.

Book Buddies – A book group designed for third-graders who love to read!
The focus is on reading age-appropriate books and learning about what kinds
of techniques writers use to make a book interesting. Meets the third
Thursday of each month, September through May. |

Radical Readers
– A book group for fourth and fifth graders who enjoy reading and
socializing with other children who share in this pleasure. Each section
meets every other Monday during the school year. Members read books from a
variety of genres and focus in their discussions on character and plot
development. |

The Sixth Grade Book Club – A book group for sixth graders. Meets
one Friday a month from 5 to 6 PM during the school year. Book discuss-ions are
more student-initiated. While the main focus is still fun and friendship
around books, readers will be working toward more authentic literature
discussions. |

Scott King Award is presented annually by the Coretta Scott King Task
Force of the American Library Association's Social Responsibilities Round
Table. Recipients are authors and illustrators of African descent whose
distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of the
"American Dream." |

Medal was named for eighteenth-century British
bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by
the Association for Library Service to Children,a division of the American
Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution

Notable Children's Books ... --books of
especially commendable quality, books that exhibit venturesome
creativity, and books of fiction, information, poetry and pictures for
all age levels (birth through age 14) that reflect and encourage
children's interests in exemplary ways.
