MILLING OF ROAD AND PAVING
IMPORTANT
This notice is to inform
you of upcoming paving work on Central Street from the Choate Bridge
to Mineral Street and all of South Main Street and Market Street.
The first phase of work will involve grinding
out 1 ½” of the existing pavement.
This work is scheduled to start at
6:30 a.m, Friday July 30, 2010.
The Towns contractor
Aggregate Industries will start on South Main St. and work
towards Market St. On
Monday August 2, 2010 starting at 5:00 a.m. work will begin on
Market St. and working towards Central St.
The second
phase of work will involve installing the top course of pavement.
This work is scheduled to start Wednesday August 4, 2010
and end on August 10, 2010.
Detours will be set up during the paving process;
the affected streets may be closed to vehicular traffic.
Also, parking will be prohibited on Central, Market and South
Main Streets from July 30th-August 10th.
This time frame is weather dependant; any inclement weather may cause
the work to be delayed until later in the day and possible the next
day.
We
apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may incur during this
process. We understand
that this will be a hardship on local businesses and homeowners.
Parking will be available at the Hammatt Street Parking lot, along
Hammatt Street and Depot Square. The town appreciates your patience
and forbearance during this project.

Subject: March Rain/Flooding
Storm Damage Financial Assistance
There has been
a Presidential Disaster Declaration here in Essex County for the
flooding and rain events from the storms that occurred in March,
2010. Financial assistance may be available through the Federal
Government.
In order to apply for such assistance right now,
there are three methods to choose from:
1)
Call 800-621-3362,
the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), from 7 AM TO 10 pm.
If hearing or speech impaired, please call TTY 800-462-7585.
2)
Go to
www.disasterassistance.gov
3)
Go to the Disaster Recovery Center located at
the Flint Public Library at 1 South Main St. in Middleton, MA, which
is open as follows:
Monday-Thursday 10 AM – 7 PM,
Friday 10 AM – 5 PM, Saturday 10 AM – 6 PM,
and Sunday 1 PM – 5 PM
If
you do plan on going to the Disaster Recovery Center, it is strongly
recommended that you register using method #1 or #2 before you go. We
are still waiting on information as to a Disaster Declaration for
the windstorm that started Feb. 25 and caused major power
disruption. That announcement has not yet been made. We will keep
you informed.

Food Safety: Power Outages and Flooding
Seasonal Influenza and H1N1
Influenza vaccinations
The Ipswich Board of Health will be offering both seasonal and
H1N1 influenza vaccinations in May. If you are interested in
scheduling an appointment, please call the Public Health Nurse, Pam
Lara at 978-356-1654.
Only the injectable (shot) form of the seasonal and H1N1
influenza vaccines will be utilized. Please wear a shirt with loose
fitting sleeves or short sleeves to your appointment since the
injection will be given in the upper arm. As a precaution, it is
recommended that you wait a minimum of 15 minutes at the clinic
after receiving the injection. Both the seasonal and H1N1 influenza
vaccines contain a preservative called thimerosal.
