The Board of Assessors meets
every Monday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and is responsible
for the valuation of all real estate and personal property in
Ipswich. The Board hears all appeals filed on real estate and
personal property and administers all Motor Vehicle and Boat
Excise Tax bills. All abatements for Motor Vehicle and Boat
Excise Tax are processed through the Board of Assessors.
Statutory exemptions which include senior citizens, veterans,
widows and widowers, and individuals classified as legally blind
are also processed through the Board.
This Fiscal Year, 2010, the Board
conducted a revaluation of all Real Estate and Personal
Property. The Department of Revenue certified all
values and the methodologies used for assessing in Ipswich.
Certifications are done every three years. The values that
appear on the Patriot Properties web page are for Fiscal Year 2010. In the interim years
the Board analyzes all qualified sales and makes interim year
value adjustments. The Board also keeps property ownership
updated from deeds recorded at the Essex Registry of Deeds in
Salem, Massachusetts. Tax maps are also updated from plans
recorded at the Essex Registry of Deeds, in Salem.
Since July
2004, property values have been available for viewing on-line
directly through
ipswich.patriotproperties.com,
or indirectly through the Town’s web site,
www.town.ipswich.ma.us, through the property
assessment data link. "Helpful Hint":
If you encounter difficulty when searching by street name in
Patriot Properties, try entering just the first few letters of
the street instead of the whole street name and do not include
street number. |
